Located on Pier 15 in San Francisco, the Exploratorium offers to park in the Pier 15 and Pier 19 ½ parking lots. The Exploratorium is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Those ages 18 and up can stay on Thursday evenings from 6 p.m to 10 p.m.

The Exploratorium offers many exhibits and is best known for its six main galleries: Bernard and Barbro Osher West, South, Brechtel Central, East, North, and the Fisher Bay Observatory. Each of these galleries is recognized for some aspect of science that motivates you to ask questions to learn more. The first gallery, Bernard and Barbro Osher West, focuses on human thought and emotion. The second, South Gallery, draws attention to human creativity and the importance of working with your hands. The third, Brechtel Central, features experiments with light, vision, sound, and hearing, testing the senses to provide more information about how the world works. The East Gallery explores different aspects of the globe and its ecosystems, as well as its social systems. The North Gallery draws attention to the weather and its effect on the natural world through observing the wind and the tides. The last Gallery gives insight on the Bay Area and its history, geography, and much more.

The Exploratorium also offers self-guided tours, artwork on display, as well as a trip into the Tactical Dome, wherein you will find yourself immersed in complete darkness to complete an excursion.

There are many events offered at the Exploratorium, such as the After Dark Event, which is held every Thursday Evening between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. for those ages 18 and up; this event was made for you to explore over 650 exhibits with the option of enjoying a drink. Other events include the Fog Bridge #72494 and Pairings: Cultivating a Taste for Science through Food. Fog bridge #72494 is an outdoor piece of artwork you can witness daily at alternating hours, and Pairings is a restaurant that is certain to refine your tastes and provide insightful presentations on science through the preparation of food.
